Octonauts
A team of brave underwater explorers known as the Octonauts combs the world's oceans for aquatic creatures in desperate need of assistance.
The Octonauts are a crew of eight adorable animals who explore the ocean in search of adventure and fun! From their undersea Octopod base, the eight talented critters—including Captain Barnacles, a valiant polar bear, Kwazii, a daredevil kitten, and Peso, a big-hearted penguin—are always ready to embark on new exciting missions.
Based on the children's books written by Meomi, the design team of Vicki Wong and Michael C. Murphy, the Octonauts follows the adventures of eight crew members encountering unusual but real sea creatures as they explore strange underwater worlds. Often they must discover vital biological or behavioral facts about the creatures to rescue them or themselves from danger.
The series was made with the help of marine biologists Dr. Lara A. Ferry-Graham and Dr. Michael H. Graham, who had previously worked on Finding Nemo.
Octonauts was produced for Chorion in series 1 and Silvergate Media starting from series 2 and premiered on CBeebies on October 4, 2010 where it became an instant hit with pre-school audiences.
The series has since aired around the world in more than 100 countries, including on ABC (Australia), RTE (Ireland), Disney Junior (USA), Super RTL (Germany), TF1 (France), TV2 (Norway), YLE (Finland), Discovery Kids (South America), Disney Junior (South East Asia) and many more.
Brown Bag Films completed production on seasons 1 to 4 of Octonauts which are available to stream on BBC iPlayer (in the UK), ABC iView and Netflix.
