Beatrix Potter's classic character, Peter Rabbit, returns to the screen and explores new destinations, thrilling adventures and fabulous fun with a cast of furry friends.
Peter Rabbit and his two best friends, Benjamin and Lily, have a knack for finding adventure, and often trouble, in the most unexpected places in this high stakes, humorous and heartwarming preschool series based on Potter's timeless children's classic.
Peter Rabbit follows the adventures of its titular character as he overcomes obstacles, outwits predators and avoids danger. Peter wants to grow up to be just like his late father and carries his journal—a guide on how to be a good rabbit—on his adventures with his friends, cousin Benjamin Bunny and a new character Lily Bobtail, in the Lake District of northern England. The show features educational goals that encourage preschoolers to learn problem-solving, interpersonal skills, being aware, self-efficacy, resilience, positive re-framing and fostering an interest in and respect for nature.
The voice cast includes Colin DePaula and L. Parker Lucas in the US version and Charlie George, and Harry Henty in the UK version as the titular character Peter Rabbit, alongside Peter Steve Harris in the US version, and Jay Ruckley in the UK version as Peter's younger cousin Benjamin Bunny and Michaela Dean in the US version, and Grace Lissenden and Imogen Bailey in the UK version as Lily Bobtail.
Peter Rabbit, developed by Silvergate Media and Penguin Books, for Nickelodeon and the BBC premiered with a 22-minute Christmas special episode, "Peter Rabbit's Christmas Tale", in December 14, 2012 on Nick Jr and CBeebies. The debut drew three million viewers and ranked as the No. 1 program with K2-5 and K2-11 across all TV in its time period and Nick's highest-rated preschool series premiere since 2011.
The series subsequently launched on Nick Jr on February 18, 2013, and hopped to the top of the charts delivering 1.7 million viewers.
At the 2014 Emmy Awards, the series earned three daytime Emmys and scored another five nominations, earning the most nominations for an animated show that year.
